Since the beginning of time, engaged and married couples have solidified their relationships with the purchase of the perfect diamond jewelry for their union. And fun fact: although the origin of engagement/wedding rings isn't 100 percent known, it does date back to Rome, when the women would wear the small rings attached to their keys to show 'ownership' to their men. Fast-forward to today, and not much has changed as rings have become a way to signify how happy we *think* a relationship can be, without even having to say a word.

We've heard, and seen, it time and time again:

"Let me see the ring!"

"Girl, I love your ring!"

*whispers* "Ooo, girl, did you see her ring?"

And for whatever reason, we have allowed this factor to be the basis of society's standards of love. After all, the bigger the better, right?

Does The Size Of The Ring Matter?

Well, one man recently put us all to the test when he posted on his Facebook Story the recent upgrade of his wife of 14-year wedding ring.

He said:

"My wife been thuggin it with the Macy's ring for $20"

He then followed it up with:

"She deserve it all. She finally has a ring."

Soon after, another friend posted the same screenshot on his personal Facebook page, causing shit to go haywire. People began to have the discussion: is the husband wrong? Could we wait for an upgraded ring? Was she right to stick around?

Needless to say, people had a LOT of opinions about it:

One lady shared her story:

Another wasn't with his timeline:

And of course the guys weighed in on his wife's loyalty:

The post has currently racked up over 65K shares, and a mass amount of comments. As far as the couple, they are enjoying their newly purchased bliss, even being featured on their local news station.

In the meantime, we'll keep the discussion going: would you wear an inexpensive ring until your husband is able to afford a new one?
