As children, we are sometimes taught that sex is dirty, shameful, and unladylike in the eyes of God; but as grown AF women, we understand that having a healthy sex life is nothing to be ashamed of, especially when you're married. In a recent interview, model Ashley Graham said that sex and faith go hand in hand and says that in her household, a prayer is a form of foreplay.

The 32-year-old model, who has been married to her husband Justine Ervine for nearly a decade, is currently expecting her first child and says that her marriage has never been stronger. According to Ashley, the key to keeping the fire lit in their union over the past 9 years has been their connection with God. In a recent interview with Lily Singh, Ashley shared:

"[My husband Justin Ervin] and I have prayer nights together because I like to do meditations and prayer and so does he on his own — but then when we do it together, it just feels more powerful. And in that power when we're praying, it's like, 'Oh … do you feel that?'"

Last year in an interview with ELLE, the model revealed that prayer has helped her and her spouse through a number of hard times (no pun intended), as well as allowed them to become more sensitive to the voice of God:

"When you fast and you pray, it's bringing more sensitivity to hear from God. That's exactly what we wanted; we were like, 'Okay, we want more sensitivity to be able to hear from God in the big decisions that we're making.' We do it together because there's a verse in the Bible that says, 'Where two or more are gathered, He is in the midst.' So as we do it together, it just makes it even stronger."

She also had this piece of advice for married couples who may be experiencing a rut or rough patch in their relationship:

"Have sex all the time. Even if you don't feel like it, just have sex. I have found that if we haven't had sex, we get snippy, and then if we are having sex, we're all over each other. For us, it's like, 'Oh, let's have sex.' And then we're just right back in a great mood."

For Ashley and her husband, having a spiritual connection has been just as (if not more) important than their physical bond and has even been effective in improving their sex life despite busy schedules and petty arguments.

"And we're like: 'Hello!' And next thing you know — after we pray, because we have priorities — we rip it off. It's a great bonding experience for both the spiritual aspect and the physical aspect."

It's my firm belief that God wants us to sex our husbands, good and hard, and this bedroom advice from Ashley might just be the blessing you didn't know your marriage needed.

How We Met is a series where xoNecole talks love and relationships with real-life couples. We learn how they met, how like turned into love, and how they make their love work.

One of my favorite things about interviewing married couples and hearing their diverse “How We Met” stories is the way they affirm true love and integral beliefs. One principle that I wholeheartedly believe is that one must truly know and love oneself before effectively doing it for another human being, and Taja Simpson and Ryan Easter’s story affirms this.

Black Moms Are Unapologetically Making Travel Memories With Their Children

Cynthia “SimplyCyn” Andrew, an attorney, content creator, and mother of two, remembers the eye-rolls and looks of exasperation from other travelers when boarding a flight with her then-twin baby boys.

“Now, when I hear people say, ‘Oh my God! Why is there a baby on this flight?’ I have no patience,” she said. “Kids are not prisoners to one location. Kids vacation and need to go from one country to the other, visit grandparents, and families move. We share this world, and we share public transportation.”
