As the world turns, we must keep styling and profiling - no matter where we are working. The first three months of 2020 have been trying. But like the lit black women we are, we will continue to believe that greater is coming, and we will make it through. We always do. I mean, our ancestors conquered worse.
Many of us have been encouraged or forced to work from home. No matter the circumstance, it's a privilege. It may seem like it's the perfect time to chill and relax, but it is essential to continue to be productive. When working from home, some things to keep in mind include:
- Keep a consistent routine.
- Time management is important.
- Schedule breaks.
- Listen to your body.
- Stay positive.
- To-do lists are your best friend.
- When using Zoom to video conference, try out the "Touch Up My Appearance" filter.

We want you to have a divine work from home space and routine that includes showing up in modish outfits that are both comfortable and stylish. Some will say that dressing up to work from home is silly, but there's a way to choose uncomplicated lewks. Most of all, we want to differentiate what we wear to work and what we wear to bed because it helps our brain understand when to be productive and when to lounge.
Ahead, find getups seen on some of our favorite style innovators that are attainable when working from home.
Jalisa
Comfy sweater + leggings = realistic productivity. Jalisa's comfy sweater offers some edge with the off the shoulder action. She can easily transition from work to comfort when needed.
▲Shay
Shay's denim top is exactly what your WFH wardrobe needs. As she sits pretty on the couch, she can hop on a Zoom call and effortlessly stunt on her colleagues.
▲Ryan
When in doubt, throw on your favorite tee with a message. Ryan Destiny always gives us life as the queen of stylish comfort. We love the pairing of her sneakers, relaxed pants and baseball cap because sometimes even your remote days require some chill.
▲Ty
Promote spring lewks, with pastels and neutrals like Ty. This queen remained simple and uncomplicated with a scoop neck top and joggers, giving us true minimalistic realness. The layered necklaces and hoop earrings do it for me personally.
Shelley
I know you're probably thinking that we must be out of our minds asking you to wear jeans at home all day. Well, here's the thing. During this complicated time, you want to create practices that mimic your usual routine and that includes throwing on some jeans every now and then. That way, when you clock out for the day, you can slip into your favorite sweats.
▲Paola
Sometimes all you need is a faux beat face, a dope headwrap and queenly jewelry. Paola's fresh beauty look is picture perfect for the days spent in web meetings. Her top is also impressively chic.
▲Courtney
Since we will be moving around our homes more frequently, we want to have some lewks that are made for working out. Courtney's lime outfit brings light and energy to the day and that's something we all want. Whether you're streaming a YouTube video for your mid-day workout or creating spreadsheets in Excel, you'll be equipped for your day.
▲Monroe
Slip dresses are undefeated in the realm of easement. Pair it with a long line cardigan and sneakers like our girl Monroe and you'll have a sporty chic getup ideal for working from home and taking a stroll around the block.
▲Gabi
Gabi Fresh is the spokesperson for the CDC-social distancing-life in her voguish jogging suit. Social distancing never looked so fly. Try this look on your essential grocery store runs.
▲Chauntie
Chauntie didn't know it then but she's giving major inspo to all the babymamas working from home these days. Sweater dresses are clutch for the mornings when you aren't feeling it. They are a guaranteed one-and-done.
▲KeKe
If you don't do anything else, rock your fashionable two-piece sets. The key is to give some effort so that it still feels like work which will keep you motivated and on task.
