It's 2020 and shows like Married at First Sight, Love Is Blindand Ready to Love prove that marriage and courtship look nothing like it did for our parents. Celebrities like Willow Smith, Jidenna, and Amanda Seales have all gotten real about their views on marriage and monogamy alike, and after a recent interview on Sway in the Morning, R&B singer Omarion shared his thoughts on tying the knot and much like his famous peers, they are unconventional AF.
After his controversial split with the mother of his two children, Apryl Jones, Omarion has been the epitome of booked and unbothered, and although the singer still has hope that he'll meet someone special, he confirmed that we will never catch him down at the courthouse:
"I'm just unconventional and I don't subscribe to the marriage business concept. It's not really beneficial to a person like me, to work hard and then split half. You can have yours and I can have mine and we can create something together. I'm definitely for that. But marriage… I don't know."
According to Omarion, although he sees himself as a faithful companion who stays true to his word, those words will never be "I do." In the interview, Omarion shared that while he believes in the idea of monogamy, he doesn't believe it's right for him:
"I don't know that I've been motivated or inspired to feel like I can be with one woman. I don't know that one woman has rocked my world like that, where I feel like, oh yo. I'm definitely a faithful person, I stand by my words and what Imma say Imma do, but that's a tricky question. I believe in it, though. I believe in it, but I don't know that it's [for me]."
The Millennium Tour headliner also confirmed that while his DMs are open, it will take some time before he's able to commit to dating one woman exclusively.
"People ask me about dating. Can I really date? I don't know. I could develop a relationship with someone. I can build with someone, but that's gon' take time. So, why categorize it or put any expectation on it when we're both exploring?"
