THIS Is The Real Reason Tami Roman Kept Her Marriage A Secret

I've said it once and I'll say it again: being able to take things with a grain of salt is a superpower. Not every choice you make will be your loved one's cup of tea, but to keep it a buck, it's not their tea to drink anyway.

Our family and friends have a huge impact on the decisions we make, whether it comes to our careers, our lifestyle choices and even our love lives. Even though our loved ones are capable of offering an objective perspective to our situations, it's important to have discernment on where and when you seek advice; and celebrities like Issa Rae, Kerry Washington, and Tami Roman have chosen to keep their relationship on the low for that exact reason.

On a recent preview for the newest season of Basketball Wives, Tami opened up about secretly marrying her longtime boyfriend, former NFL player, Reggie Youngblood last August in Las Vegas.

"I finally married Reggie! Yes, your girl is a wife. Reggie's been asking me to marry him for a very long time and every single time I've said no. I thought I wasn't enough for him. But I did some soul-searching and I realized this man loves me, I love him, we are soulmates. I finally said yes, and I've never been happier."

The couple's VH1 spinoff, Tami Ever After, premiered last night and promises to offer an inside look at Reggie's proposal, the couple's private wedding ceremony, and all of the insecurities these lovebirds had to overcome to get to the altar. At one time, the 16-year age difference between the two caused Tami to doubt the longevity of their relationship, even more so after having a miscarriage in 2015. But now, Tami says she can't picture her life any other way. She explained:

"I'm 48, and I don't want to spend the rest of my life by myself. And this man genuinely loves me. And this is something that he wants and never experienced. So I'd be selfish to not travel down that road with someone who I really love and who loves me."

Tami explained that her newfound security in her relationship was the real reason she chose to keep her newfound marriage status a secret from even her closest friends. The 49-year-old mother of two shared that she doesn't even wear her wedding ring because she's not here for our opinions.

"I feel like I don't really need to disclose that I'm married because I don't know who will be genuinely happy, who would really care."

Even now that the cat is out of the bag, Tami still feels she made the best decision by keeping her nuptials under wraps.

"Rather than go through all those emotions and figure out who's real and who's not, I'll just keep the sh-t to myself."
