As children, we all had dreams that surpassed the sky's limits and put our adult imaginations to shame. But somewhere along the line, our vision became clouded by disappointment and the plans we had for the future evolved into painful, distant memories.
With maturity, it's easy to trade in your hopes and desires for regret and complacency but in a recent interview with Marie Claire, our good sis Megan Thee Stallion had a word about the power of persistence and revealed why having a Plan B was never really an option for her.
The rapper, who is currently pursuing a degree in Health Administration at Texas Southern, explained that while her path may be unconventional, the vision that she has for her future has always been clear. She told the publication:
"I never had a plan B; I always had two plan As. I knew I wanted to go to school, but I knew I wanted to pursue music. When you really want to do something, you're really going to put your mind to doing it. And I really want to do both. I have to do both."
Last March, Megan's mother lost her battle to brain cancer and her grandmother shortly after which sources say only intensified her hustle. Megan revealed that she owes her intense work ethic to late nights in the studio with her mom (who was also a rapper), and plans to carry out all of her plans as scheduled because she knows that's what her mother would have wanted.
"I know that women are powerful. I know that we are out here birthing people. I know that we are out here running shit, so I can't even be mad at you for thinking that we should be held to a high standard. We're the ultimate beings. We are the superior beings."
In her interview, Megan also opened up about her struggles as a sex-positive artist, and sis didn't refrain from talking her sh*t:
"A man can be as mediocre as he wants to be but still be praised. A man can talk about how he's about to do all of these drugs and then come and shoot your house up. But as soon as I say something about my vagina, it's the end of the world?"
According to Megan, men who have a problem with her sexuality are part of a much bigger problem:
"What are you really mad about? You cannot be mad about me rapping about sex. That's not what you're mad about. It's something deeper. Not only am I rapping about sex, I'm rapping about you making me feel good. I'm not rapping about licking on you. No, you're going to do what I told you to do, and I feel like sometimes that can be a little intimidating....Sometimes it's overwhelming to some men. They can't handle it, they get a little shook, they get a little scared. But I'm not going nowhere, so get used to it."
