Sex
It seems like not a day goes by when I don't read an article, a tweet, something about how marriage is becoming obsolete or singles (mostly single men) are scared to get married because they think it will tank their sex life.
Meanwhile, there are countless articles supporting that married sex is the best sex around (if you're in a healthy and happy relationship, that is). As a marriage life coach, I can personally vouch for that. Married folks are some of the FREAKIEST PEOPLE I know. (I mean, nast-ay!)
In honor of those who love their spouse and having sex with them as much as possible, I wanted to provide some DIY recipes that will help to keep things H-O-T in the bedroom (or wherever y'all do-the-do). These are inexpensive, easy to make, and perfect as Christmas stocking stuffers, romantic staycations or simply a way to try something new tonight:
Edible Honey-Vanilla Massage Oil.
Recipe:
1/2 Cup of Food Grade Vegetable Glycerin
1/2 Teaspoon of Raw Honey
1/2 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
Aside from a massage being one of the most effective ways to touch on all of your partner's erogenous zones during foreplay, it has a ton of health benefits too. For starters, massages relieve stress, increase blood circulation, soothe sore muscles and joints, remove toxins and improve one's quality of sleep.
If you want to surprise your spouse with a massage, all you need to do is mix all of these ingredients together with a whisk and put them in a plastic bottle (the kind that you can put in the microwave); one that comes with the kind of lid that you can squeeze the contents out of.
Whenever you're ready to use it (there's no real need to refrigerate this by the way; honey never goes bad), pop the bottle in the microwave for 5-7 seconds and you're good to go!
Edible Body Glitter.
Recipe:
1/4 Cup of White Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon of Liquid Food Coloring
Husbands may not want to wear glitter, but they certainly have no problem seeing their wives rockin' it; especially if they can lick it off of them! That's really easy—and fun—to do with this easy-as-all-get-out body glitter recipe.
Mix the sugar (make sure it's white; brown sugar is too moist) and your food coloring of choice together. Then, on a cookie sheet that is covered with parchment paper, put the colored sugar on it and bake the sugar at 350 degrees for around 10 minutes.
Store the glitter in a sealed container (you can find some small ones at a local arts and crafts) until you're ready to use it. That's it.
Edible Chocolate Body Paint.
Recipe:
8 oz of Dark Chocolate Squares (Chopped)
1/4 Cup of Heavy Cream
2 to 3 Drops of Food Grade Lavender Oil
Body art is sexy – especially if you and your spouse are the artists and you're having a private showing!
Although this one might seem complicated to make, it's really not. Pull out a small saucepan and put it on an oven burner that's set to low heat. Put the chocolate in first and let it melt a bit. Then add the cream, stirring everything until they melt together. Next, add the lavender oil (and maybe a ½ teaspoon of honey for taste). After a minute or so, allow the "paint" to turn to room temperature and store it in a glass container.
Now you're ready to dip your paintbrush (or your fingers) into your chocolate paint and spread it…wherever you want to!
Edible Chocolate Body Butter.
Recipe:
1/2 Cup of Coconut Oil (Melted)
1/4 Cup of Ghee Butter (Melted)
1/3 Cup of Maple Syrup
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Powder
1/4 Cup of Cacao Powder
After you – or you both – get out of the shower, skip the lotion and put on some chocolate body butter!
First, either melt your coconut oil on your stove on low heat or in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds. Then add the other ingredients; you can either use a whisk or a electric mixer, if you want your butter to have a lighter texture and feel. If it starts out looking watery, don't worry; it'll thicken as it cools.
This doesn't require refrigeration. Just keep the butter in a Mason jar on your nightstand so your sweetie can continually take the hint (wink).
Peppermint Massage Candles.
Recipe:
3 oz of Soy Wax
1 oz Sweet Almond Oil
1/2 Teaspoon of Vitamin E
30 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
If you've never had a little candle wax poured on your body before, there's no time like the present! Plus, you can actually make the candles from the comfort and convenience of your own home.
First, use a glue tab to secure your candle wick inside of your candle tin. Then fill a medium-sized stainless steel cooking pot a little less than halfway and place it on a low-medium heat burner until the water starts to simmer. Put the soy wax into a heat-proof measuring cup (like a Pyrex one) and put it into the cooking pot until the wax melts. Next, pour in the sweet almond oil and Vitamin E, making sure to stir slowly otherwise, you'll get bubbles in your wax. Add the essential oil (peppermint provides a bit of a tingle but you can use any kind of essential oil you want). Once everything is blended, slowly pour the contents into your candle tin, making sure the wick remains in the center. Let it harden overnight, trim the wick down and you've got your candle.
Here's where the sexy part comes in. To create a romantic atmosphere, light the candle(s). Allow the wax to pool (melt). Wait about a minute and then either pour the wax into your hands or directly onto your spouse and start massaging. (Ooo, chile!)
Edible Undies.
Recipe:
A Pair of Sexy Underwear
Parchment Paper
Chewy Candies (Skittles, Tootsie Rolls, Laffy Taffy, Starbursts, etc.)
Twist-and-Pull Candy (Twizzlers, etc.)
A Rolling Pin
Surely, you don't need me to break down what a pair of edible underwear can inspire you and yours to do. Just hop on over to YouTube and press play on SWV's "Downtown" and…nothing else needs to be said.
For this one, I think seeing is believing when it comes to following a DIY recipe.
Crazy, right? Sometimes, in order to take sex up a notch, all you need is $20 and a little creativity.
Enjoy. BIG TIME!
