There’s just something about seeing a strong, charming man being gentle and taking care of a small, delicate object. Petting a puppy, picking flowers, or in the case of Creed III star, Jonathan Majors, carrying around a tiny, ceramic cup — it just warms this tender heart of mine.
Lately, Majors has been capturing all of our hearts with his flirty interview segments and dreamy magazine covers, and if you’ve had a chance to check out any red carpet, movie premiere, or candid paparazzi shots, in hand, you will find a dainty little cup accompanying him.

Majors' collection of ceramic cups seems to be the one thing he just can’t leave home without. And if I’m being honest, I’ve never wanted to be a cup so bad. The Yale School of Drama-trained actor has been spotted with the tiny companion in public for a few years now, keeping these portable vessels on hand for any occasion.
From speckled mugs to handleless copper tumblers, Majors has us asking, what’s up with the cups?

“It just became a thing for me to always have my own vessel,” Majors shares during a video for GQ, “to kind of move through the world with.” And boy, has he been moving. From starring in the upcoming blockbuster, Creed III, to stepping into his supervillain era as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the Lovecraft Country actor has been working non-stop, which explains why keeping his trusty cups alongside for his biggest career moments could serve as a way to keep him grounded.
During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, he clarifies what he’s really been filling his cups up with. “Well, cups are built to hold things. So my cup holds water—it’s never alcohol,” he explains. “People should know that. I think it’s important to stay hydrated.”
He further explains how a piece of advice from his mother inspired his signature staple item. “My mom told me, just coming up, ‘Yo, never let anybody fill your cup. No one can fill your cup for you.’ And it just became a thing.”
So while we all can’t have the pleasure of being the lady… I mean… cup that Majors holds close, we can take a page out of his book to stay hydrated and remain mindful of what we fill our own cups up with.
