Evelyn Lozada Vows To Give Up Premarital Sex: "I Lost A Piece Of Me Every Time I Had Sex"

Evelyn Lozada had a pretty tumultuous year in the media after the previous season of Basketball Wives set the internet ablaze with debates about colorism and Ochocinco alike but recently, the reality star revealed that she's ready to turn over a new leaf.

Earlier this week in an Instagram post, Evelyn revealed that she has been delivert after her baptism at Freedom Church in California. She explained in an interview with Baller Alert:

"Something was missing, it was on my heart, it was on my mind [to get Baptized]."

Sometimes divine intervention is exactly what we need to help us shift our focus, check ourselves and prioritize what's most important, and according to Evelyn, part of this process has been staying away from doing things "her way", including but not limited to sex.

"I'm done with premarital sex. I felt like… [in] those relationships I lost a piece of me, every time I had sex [out of wedlock]."

I'm a strong believer in soul ties, quite frankly, because that sh*t is real, sis. Everything that looks good isn't good for your spirit, and that's why Evelyn decided to trade out premarital sex for a stronger relationship with God. She said:

"My soul needed something positive."

Although this isn't the first time Evelyn has given her life over to God, she hopes to make what she says are some much-needed personal changes this time around. According to the 43-year-old mother-of-two, although her actions over the past few months have been regrettable, her main focus now is doing the self-work:

"But even with filming last season, you walk away, and I process things. I think about things, and I'm like 'oh my gosh, maybe that wasn't the right way to handle that situation.' Or 'What is my daughter going to think when she sees this?' I always know that I need to do better."

Evelyn shared that she hopes her newfound connection with God will remedy some of the areas of her life where she previously lost control and hopes to find redemption on her journey to healing. Along with celibacy, the reality star says that she's ready and willing to pass any test of faith that comes her way:

"As a woman, a mother, somebody that's trying to accomplish things at life, I know I have to do better with how I respond to certain situations. This season whenever we start filming ['Basketball Wives'], whenever that is, it's supposed to be at the top of the year. It's going to be the real true facts because me getting baptized and really wanting to do it for God in the right way, it's not going to be easy. But I'm determined to pass the test."
