The summer is rapidly approaching. If you're anything like me, you procrastinated instead of fulfilling your new year's resolution of hitting the gym, eating clean, and looking like Beyonce by the summer.
But don't worry, Chilli of the R&B supergroup TLC has given us a few tips from her routine that will give us a beach body that says, "I don't want no scrubs".
The 47-year-old singer is an advocate for fitness and began consistently sharing her wellness journey with her fans in 2016. She now takes to Instagram to let us in on some of the recipes that keep her abs looking like, "Damnnnn…" Chilli said in an interview with People in 2016:
"In everything you do in life, there is always room for improvement. That's what I'm doing – challenging myself to do even better by my body for my health."
The singer said that she had always been pretty healthy, but discovered a love for clean eating after completing a 21-day cleanse and noticing the difference in how she felt.
"I wanted to keep living that way, I love the way I felt after, and I made a commitment to eat even cleaner than usual, and I had been eating pretty clean before."
We live in an era of unlimited options, so it seems like the choice between six cheese macaroni and a kale and zucchini salad would be a no-brainer (I would choose the macaroni). But, Chilli reminds us that when you know better, you do better.
"The process opened my eyes to some different food choices out there that are healthy that I didn't even know existed!"
As much as I love fried chicken, I understand that we as women have to start taking better care of our bodies so that they can take the best care of us. With a new diet or meal plan coming out every other week, it's easy to get lost in the terminology.
Should you eat gluten? Is dairy bad for you? Wtf is a paleo?
I had my gallbladder removed when I was 16, and it's been a nightmare trying to find a meal plan that works for me. I can't indulge in the things that I really love like pasta, cheese, or ice cream. Legumes are hard for my stomach to break down so even some veggies give me a hard time. The upside to all of my gastrointestinal woes is… The internet.
The internet wields unlimited options, all it takes is a little research. Our girl Chilli seems to be a pescatarian, but she also has acid reflux so she has to make certain recipes without tomato or other acidic ingredients. It's all about trial and error until you find a meal plan that meets your individual needs.
