When Cardi B and Offset got together, they quickly became one of hip-hop’s most celebrated couples. Both are beloved rappers with a slew of hits between them and whenever they stepped out together, they had the people talking. And then there was their whirlwind romance. The “I Like It” artist shared how the Migos rapper wooed her after they met in 2016 and a year later, they had their “first real date” at the Super Bowl, which Offset referred to as a “power move” in an interview with Rolling Stone.
But like any relationship, they experienced a lot of highs and lows. They secretly married in September 2017 but were quickly hit with cheating rumors on Offset’s part. The rumors continued to plague their relationship causing them to briefly split in 2018 but on Sept. 15, 2020, Cardi decided to throw in the towel and file for divorce. Fast forward to 2023, the 30-year-old mother of two is opening up about giving the “Clout” artist another chance.
Cardi visited The Jason Lee Show and discussed her marriage, music, and more. She explained that she filed for divorce during that time because she and the 31-year-old weren’t seeing eye to eye but she rather have Offset tell his side of the story.
“I’m gonna let him talk about this because the main thing that was really bothering me, I’ma let him say it,” she says. “I want him to say it, because I feel like that’s really part of his story.”
However, she did give some insight as to what made her stay and work it out with the father of her kids. “The main thing that I wanted him to stop and everything, he stopped and he changed, and it showed me that he wanted to change for me,” she says.
The couple seems to be stronger than ever. Due to the unfortunate passing of Offset’s cousin and former Migos bandmate Takeoff, the Bronx native shared that she has been helping her husband deal with his grief.
