4 Highlighters You Need In Your Beauty Arsenal

Whether I'm in full glam or a simple look, you can bet I'm wearing a highlighter. It adds such a glow and sparkle to your look — you can literally go from good to great with one product and who's not here for that?

I tend to try different types of highlighters, whether it's powder or cream — I really don't discriminate. As long as it's pretty and shinin', I'm good.

With all that being said, I tried a few highlighters and here's why you need to add them to your beauty arsenal.

Maybelline Master Chrome By Face Studio

Maybelline Master Chrome By Face Studio in Molten Peach

Shade: Molten Peach

Price: $5.99 - $9.99

This highlighter is bomb! I tried the Molten Peach shade and it's my favorite color from the line. It has a shiny, glittery, and warm metallic sheen that looks good on all skin tones and types. The Molten Peach has the same pinkish finish as the Molten Rose Gold shade, but a bit darker.

As far as the application, it has a very strong highlight, so a little goes a long way. Seriously, if you use too much, you'll be blinding. Also, it's not messy at all. I know some highlighters tend to have fall out, but I didn't experience that with this highlighter. It's easy enough to apply where you can use a brush or your fingers. Either way, you'll get a pretty good result.

MAC Cream Color Base

MAC Cream Color Base in Improper Copper

Shade: Improper Copper

Price: $24

If you tend to lean more towards cream-based highlighters, MAC Cream Color Base in Improper Copper is definitely a must have. It's very easy to apply to your face, I tend to just use my fingers and tap the area (gently blending into your skin) for the best application. Its creamy formula is made with copper and high karat gold that gives you a sheer and dewy finish that you can layer on for a more dramatic look.

While this is more of a bronzer than an official highlighter, it works! You can apply this cream finish to your eyes, face, and lips. I like to pair this with Fenty Beauty's Trippin' highlighter stick — it's not necessary but it's a personal hack. I think the colors work great together and give you a highlight for the gods!

Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter

Killawatt Collection

Shade: All shades really…

Price: $34

I love the Killawatt collection and I'm not just saying that because I Stan for Rihanna, but because these highlighters are so pigmented and long-lasting. The Killawatt highlighters gives you a flawless glowing finsh and comes in a duos and solo compacts so you can mix if you choose. They offer a variety of colors including Trophy Wife, Metal Moon, Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby, and more.

My favorite is the Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule. I love the rich, glittery, and pigmented rose gold finish. Whether you like this color combination or not, you definitely need to have at least one Killawatt compact in your collection.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit

Shade: Gold Deposit

Price: $34

If you tend to go for a golden glow, this is one of the best choices. It can act as a highlighter alone or as a skin finish to intensify any highlighter you choose. This soft and radiant highlighter adds a golden, sheer, and luminous polish for your face and body.

You can make your highlight as subtle or as eye-catching as you want, however, keep in mind with this product a little goes a long way. With the rich gold, the slightest amount of highlight will be noticeable. In my opinion, the best way to apply this product is by using a fan brush. The fan brush allows you to take a reasonable amount (not too much or too little) and build as you need to.

If gold is not your color of choice MAC offers a variety of colors including: Barely Dressed, Cheeky Bronze, Global Glow, Landscaped, Nuanced, Perfectly Lit, and Soft & Gentle.
