Angela Bassett is 64 and sexy af. That's it. That's the whole paragraph.
Whether it's a voodoo queen, a cop, or an iconic pop culture character, there's no role Angela hasn't conquered with class, and after nearly two decades in the industry, sis hasn't aged a day.
In the past, Auntie Angela has been very clear; she doesn't look good for her age. She looks good periodt. But in a recent interview with NewBeauty, Angela said that her glorious skin and snatched physique don't come without hard work, me-time, and a little help from her esthetician. Angela explained:
"I'm pretty passionate about keeping up with the skincare, especially being in front of the camera and on the stage. It's important. When I'm not on stage or on camera, I'm pretty sans makeup—I think it's good to keep a clear, clean fresh palette. I am a potions and lotions girl, so if you make me promises, I'll give you a shot. I do really like the iS Clinical serums. I always come back around to them and they work really well for me. I also find good estheticians everywhere, and then I have my dermatologist Dr. Pearl Grimes here in LA."
The actress also revealed that she is no stranger to the non-invasive cosmetic maintenance game. According to Angela, along with lashes and Botox, she has also tried Ultherapy, a procedure that uses ultrasound energy to lift skin under the neck, skin, and eyebrows:
"I know lashes are no surprise! Botox is no surprise! I'm a big supporter of being natural, but I've done it twice. Just a little bit, not too much—I still need to express myself. What else? I've tried Ultherapy, too."
To Angela, skincare is more than just a routine, issa lifestyle. Angela told Peoplethat her mother, who died in 2014, always made sure her melanin was poppin', so her affinity for all things beauty is only natural:
"Even though my mother was a woman of little means, she would take me to a dermatologist every six weeks when I was a teenager. And after college when I was a young actress living in New York, I would go to an esthetician when I could afford to."
Angela says that another one of her keys to aging backward is staying stress-free. Despite being a wife, raising teenage twins, and managing a thriving career, Angela says that she will never compromise self-care for a check. Along with staying "prayed up" and making time for friends, Angela says that she makes sure to get regular massages to help her balance the chaos of her personal and professional life:
"I do try to relax. If I'm home, I'll text the masseuse. I need her to get in there with the deep tissue and get rid of the knots and release the muscles. I try to get away—I went to the Golden Door last year in November just to think about nothing and I enjoyed all the rejuvenation that brought."
