I like it! I will say that when I do my bantu knots, I twist the section first and then I wrap it around. For the past two years, my go-to style is the two strand flat twist. I love it, it’s easy to manage and you can protect the curls simply with doing the pineapple method with your hair.

I first started doing Bantu knots my senior year of high schoool. I personally think they are much better to do when the hair is damp I also used rubber bands rather than bobby pins. At the end of each night there is a method called “pineapple” basically you pin or wrap the back of your hair and make all your curls go in the front of your hair so the curls can stay fresh and last longer.

It looks great! Would’ve been nice to see a gif of maybe the last Bantu knot being formed or even a set of gifs. Have fun with your hair. After that third day remix the style into a side poof, a faux hawk, a top fro, braid a crown, etc. You go girl!

I have never been able to successfully do this! Just resigned myself to twist-outs. I will have to give your method a try!

I consider myself the “Bantu bandit” (LOL) and the advice I give people when they ask “how?” is to first determine whether your hair responds better to a two strand Bantu or the kind described in this article. Everyone’s hair doesn’t respond well to the one in this article and vice versa. Also, I’d say if it’s taking your hair 24-48 hours to dry, you’re using too much water. Try using an oil based cream in lieu of so much water and that may minimize the frizz and greatly reduce your drying time. I have SUPER thick hair and I’m usually dry in 4 to 6 hours.

  12. Bantu knots is the style. Knot out would be setting the hair with the knots and releasing them for a curly style.

  18. My mom has very long hair and it amazed me that she always would prefer to hide her long hair in these bantu knots. As soon as I saw Blac Chyna & Dej Loaf in the media with this style, I immediately thought of my mom Deborah Thomas 🙂

  20. Blac Chyna didn’t wear a full glam look with her’s. So it’s kinda really hard to compare. But both I think were killing it

  21. Jazzi Blu says:

It’s not so much as Dej having “the glam look” …Chyna’s doesn’t look all the way put together…even as a casual look..
