Check them out below:
Hey Necole! I felt like this story should be sent to you for other fans of the blog to read. My mom passed away on Sept 10th and we had her funeral on Sept 17th. It was hard for me to leave Tennessee to come back to Atlanta but I had to work the BET Hip Hop Awards. Afterwards, I attended TI’s annual Birthday party and Brandy was in attendance.
I have had the opportunity to meet & talk to her a few times now so she always shows love …when she sees me. This particular night really touched me. Brandy saw me and smiled and I greeted her and give her a hug as usual. She asks “How have you been?” I say “umm I’m ok…” She could sense I wasn’t fully ok and asked “What’s wrong?” I said, “I had to bury my mom on the 17th.” Brandy instantly stops and looks in my eyes with tears in her eyes and says “OMG I’m so sorry to hear that baby.” I said to her “Honesty, seeing you makes me smile because my mom always knew how much of a fan I was of yours and she would always record shows you were on, pick up any magazine you were in, and bought your music to surprise me because she knew it would make me happy.
Brandy literally grabbed me and gave me a big hug and said, “You hang in there, your mom is still right here in your heart and isn’t going anywhere. You hear me?” I couldn’t believe that this women who I have been a fan of this long is taking the time to hug and embrace me and give me this support. It brought tears to my eyes. It made coming back to Atlanta and trying to get back to work that much more worth it. So towards the end of the party, as she is walking out with Jennifer Hudson and Tyrese, she came back up to me, hugged me again and whispered in my ear while touching on my heart “Remember what I said, you hang in there. Your mom is here.”
I will forever remember that moment and will forever be a fan. Thank you Brandy. -Ryan
The day I met Robin Roberts was one of the more inspirational days in my life. My family and I flew from North Carolina and Georgia all the way to New York to be apart of the Good Morning America audience. It had been approximately 6 weeks after I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. I knew Robin Roberts was a survivor and wanted to see what being a true fighter and cancer survivor was all about.
After the show, we had the opportunity to meet everyone. When Robin Roberts came up to me, I was so nervous I shook her hand and told her I was just diagnosed with breast cancer. She smiled and said, ‘This too shall pass,’ then she repeated it again. Little did she know those words would get me through my cancer treatments.
Around the time Robin was diagnosed with MDS, I learned my breast cancer came back. I totally felt we were cancer battle buddies fighting the same cancer war again and our ammo was our strength, courage, and determination. If ever given the opportunity to meet Robin again I would love to say her drive keeps me going and every time I have a bad day the words “this too shall pass” sticks in my mind and I smile.
Through my cancer diagnosed I have learned two valuable lessons; live life to the fullest and life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react. Be blessed! -LaTeacha
I am an aspiring young actress. This past summer I went to Los Angeles for the first time. I had an amazing time and met some amazing people at the B.E.T. Awards! Afterward, I went to Rivera restaurant, and while waiting for my parents to come, one of my role models, Taraji P. Henson, walked right past me.I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. So I didn’t pass up the opportunity. I walked up to her, said her name, and she turned around. So I told her I wanted to be an actress and how much I LOVED her and she told me I can do it seriously and she loved me more. She also told me to about three different times in our brief 5 minute conversation to “Put it in the universe,” which means the energy you put out in the universe, that’s exactly what you will receive. If you continue to say ‘I am, I will, therefore it is,’ the universe will act accordingly, but if you are confused and you don’t know what it is you want, that’s confusing to the universe and it will act accordingly. Saying ‘I am’ and ‘I will’ is definite and you know you got it!
The encounter with Taraji P.Henson was incredible. I don’t want to say, ‘once in a lifetime,’ because like I told her, I know we will meet again. Because DREAMS DO COME TRUE!! -DaJanae Arnaud
